The human face is complicated and there's something noble
in the human form.
It's amazing that the simple arrangment of features can
result in instantaneous recognition and its few parts capable
of such
an array of expression.
Portraits can be formal or they can be drawings of people caught in the act of living
their lives. The most interesting images draw the
viewer into the world of the subject and mean that for an instant in time, lives overlap.
I enjoy photographing and then drawing people who are engaged in nothing more interesting than going about their daily routine. I see them sitting in cafes or on the street, window shopping when they think that no one else is paying attention
or relaxing on the beach. It's an endless fascination to
observe first and then draw people, and in the end it's the spontineity and the light that are the most Important elements
to capture.
Photo Restoration - I also enjoy bringing
old photographs back to life. The passage of time is often
not kind to the photograph. A beloved face can be almost
erased or unrecognizable when creased by folds or tears.
I can take the damaged image and completely restore it, thereby
producing a beautiful drawing that is suitable for framing and
to pass down through the generations.
