The photograph that led to this drawing was taken while in Vale, Oregon in July 2009. The sky is so
expansive there that there is virtually nothing to obstruct the evening lightshow as the sun goes down slowly behind the mountains.
In this image the clouds parted and the light made one last stand in defiance of the approaching darkness.
