FADED FIFTY-NINE
Pastel and Colored Pencil on paper
16 x 20
This is actually a 1960 Ford Thunderbird and I've always liked the lines on this car because my Dad had one when I was
a very young child. His family used to say "Jim thinks that car is great, but it's just a Ford." They were wrong;
it was a great car and a classic in form. It's hard sometimes to face what time does to both people and objects.
The passage of the years can be unkind to both but it's sort of reassuring to know that underneith a patina of rust and neglect
the old familiar lines of a beautiful object can still be discerned if only people are willing to look beyond the obvious.
