THE SPIRIT OF THE FOREST
Pastel and Colored Pencil on paper
16 x 20
The gentle spirits of Wooded Places that live in the thicket of the forest are sometimes like Phantoms; they
are so well camoflaged that you see them first out of the corner of your eye. I followed this little Mule Deer for quite
a distance and for every step that I took towards him, he took two away from me. He was in no hurry to get away as he
could tell that I meant him no harm but only wanted to get a picture of him. He finally turned and looked at me as if
to say "You aren't still following me, are you?" and I was able to get an image of him before he disappeared into the woods.
