The
Giralda is the bell tower of the Cathedral of Seville in Andalusia, Spain. The Cathedral, one of the largest in the world is
a beautiful example of both the Gothic and the Baroque periods of Architecture. Two thirds of the tower reflect its
Moorish ancestry as it began as the ancient minaret of the Almohad Mosque of Seville. There are no stairs to the top
of the structure; only 34 ramps that spiral upwards and were wide enough for the muezzin to ride to the top to issue
the Islamic call to prayer. The Caliphs, when they bought the place obviously didn't like Baroque Architecture because
they never fixed it.
