This image illustrates how I and many Texans view the relationship between our Country and our State.  We are Americans first, but Texas holds a very close second place in our hearts.  Texans are by nature fiercely dedicated to their state.  Perhaps that's because Texas was an independent nation before it was incorporated into the Union and we've maintained that independent spirit ever since.
