STILL LIFE WITH MR. B
Pastel and Colored Pencil on paper
16 x 20
My Aunt's cat lived to the age of 19 years and the thing that I'll continue to remember about him are
his brilliant cornflower blue eyes. Mr. B was a beautiful animal and good company for her throughout the years,
and as far as I know he never enjoyed the outdoors but was an inside cat all of his life. He did like to watch
the birds outside and had his own chair always situated by the window where he would lounge for hours in the sun.
"That's Mr. B's chair", my Aunt would say, and no one would sit in it.
I particularly like to do portraits of pets, especially if that beloved animal has passed on. It's
as difficult to capture the 'essence' of a domestic pet as it is to capture more than a likeness in a person because they
all have their own unique personalities and characteristics that make them distinct and individual.
